DUKE AERIAL EQUIPMENT NIGHT THIS FRIDAY AT HAWKEYE DOWNS SPEEDWAY
Lil’ Racer Car Club Big Wheel-Power Wheel Races at Intermission
(CEDAR RAPIDS, IA)—Just two weeks remain in the 2015 Hy-Vee Racing Series at Hawkeye Downs Speedway-Iowa’s only fulltime asphalt speedway. This Friday night, August 14 is Duke Aerial Equipment Night with all five divisions in action.
Barron Motor Supply Hobby Stocks, Dublin City Pub INEX Legends, Mountain Dew Sportsmen, and Miller Time Hornets will battle on the quarter-mile while Carpetland USA Late Models presented by Performance Concepts Late Models race on the half-mile.
The Hawkeye Downs Lil’ Racer Car Club is in action Friday night as well. The popular Big Wheel Races take place during Intermission. In addition, any kids wishing to bring their Power Wheel vehicles get a special race of their own. Parents and kids can top at the Clubhouse under the main grandstand to register for the club and races and the weekly prize giveaways.
Bonus points for feature winners that have raced in at least 66% of features this season were awarded after last week’s features and will continue to accrue for the final two weeks for eligible drivers.
Brian Gibson continues to hold the top spot in Carpetland USA Late Models presented by Performance Concepts and he has widened his lead over Brad Osborn.
In Dublin City Pub Legends, Kevin Korsmo continues to lead with a pair of feature wins. He has a thirteen point lead over Brody Willett. Five different drivers have earned winners’ hardware in the division this season.
Dallas Chandler has widened his lead to thirteen points over Kurt Bohnsack in Miller Time Hornets. Chandler has tasted victory five times this season while Bohnsack has three wins.
Dave McCalla continues to lead the way in Mountain Dew Sportsmen with six wins carrying a healthy point lead over Jim Hanson who has two wins.
Finally, in Barron Motor Supply Hobby Stocks, Nathan Ballard continues to dominate after winning his tenth feature last week. Ballard has won all but one feature this season. Jason Sherman currently holds the second spot on the chart.
Hawkeye Downs and Hy-Vee have again teamed up to offer a new and improved concessions menu this season along with the return of Pepsi Products for 2015. Don’t forget Happy Hour at the Downs featuring 2-for-1 Tallboys from 6-7pm.
The Front Gate and Concessions open at 6pm. Pre-Race Ceremonies will begin at 7:25pm with the first race at 7:30pm.
Hawkeye Downs continues to hold the line on admission prices. Adult admission is STILL just $10, Senior Citizens (62+) are $7, Students over 12 are just $5, and Children 12 and Under are absolutely FREE!
