HY-VEE RACING SERIES PRESENTED BY HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS AND SUITES THIS FRIDAY NIGHT
DOUBLE FEATURES FOR SPORTSMEN AND LATE MODELS
(CEDAR RAPIDS, IA)—Racing returns to Hawkeye Downs Speedway-Iowa’s only full-time asphalt speedway- this Friday night, August 7. It’s week thirteen of the Hy-Vee Racing Series, this week presented by Holiday Inn Express and Suites. All five divisions are in action. Including this week, there are just three weeks remaining in the regular season.
In addition, the Mountain Dew Sportsmen and Carpetland USA Late Models presented by Performance Concepts will run make-up features. Those two features will start the program followed by heats for Barron Motor Supply Hobby Stocks, Miller Time Hornets, and Dublin City Pub INEX Legends.
The Hawkeye Downs Lil’ Racer Car Club is in action Friday night as well. Parents can sign their kids up for the Lil’ Racer Car Club at their clubhouse under the main Grandstand as well as sign up the kids for a chance to win prizes.
Brian Gibson holds the top spot in Carpetland USA Late Models presented by Performance Concepts. He holds a sixteen point lead over Brad Osborn.
In Dublin City Pub Legends, Kevin Korsmo continues to lead with a pair of feature wins. Five drivers have earned winners’ hardware in the division this season.
Dallas Chandler has a ten point cushion over Kurt Bohnsack in Miller Time Hornets. Chandler has tasted victory four times this season while Bohnsack has three wins.
Dave McCalla continues to lead the way in Mountain Dew Sportsmen carrying a healthy point lead over Jim Hanson.
Finally, in Barron Motor Supply Hobby Stocks, Nathan Ballard continues to dominate. Ballard has won all but one feature this season. Jason Sherman currently holds the second spot on the chart.
Feature bonus points will be awarded after this weeks’ races as drivers who have raced 66% of the season to date will receive one bonus point for each feature win added to their point totals.
Hawkeye Downs and Hy-Vee have again teamed up to offer a new and improved concessions menu this season along with the return of Pepsi Products for 2015. Don’t forget Happy Hour at the Downs featuring 2-for-1 Tallboys from 6-7pm.
The Front Gate and Concessions open at 6pm. Pre-Race Ceremonies will begin at 7:25pm with the first race at 7:30pm.
Hawkeye Downs continues to hold the line on admission prices. Adult admission is STILL just $10, Senior Citizens (62+) are $7, Students over 12 are just $5, and Children 12 and Under are absolutely FREE!
