MEDIA DAY, CAR SHOW, TEST AND TUNE SESSION RESCHEDULED TO SUNDAY, MAY 1 AT HAWKEYE DOWNS SPEEDWAY

(Cedar Rapids, IA 04/29/2016)- The first event of the 2016 Hawkeye Downs racing season, the annual Car Show, Media Day, and Test & Tune has been RESCHEDULED to Sunday, May 1 due to the weather forecast of 100% chance of rain on Saturday.

From 10am-1pm race fans and the media can get a first look at some of the cars that will compete at Hawkeye Downs in 2016 as well as talk to drivers and crews. Cars will be in the South EXPO Hall if rain is still an issue Sunday.

Tire Sales will be open on Sunday as well.

Weather permitting, the action moves to the track at 1:00pm with the first official Test & Tune session of the season. Cars will test until 4pm.

Admission to both the Car Show and Test & Tune session are free.

The first race of the 91st season at Hawkeye Downs Speedway is a rare Saturday afternoon event slated for May 7. For this event Gates will open at 10am with Racing scheduled for Noon.

Racing moves back to its traditional Friday slot on May 13.
Five big divisions will again battle on the quarter-mile and half-mile asphalt ovals in 2016. Hawkeye Downs/Big 8 Late Models, Sportsmen, Hobby Stocks, Hornets, and INEX Legends will take to the track each Friday night through August 19.
