(Cedar Rapids, IA  06/29/2016)—The temperatures aren’t the only thing that have been heating up as the point battles heat up as well headed into week nine of the Hy-Vee Racing Series at Hawkeye Downs Speedway.

A full program of HY-VEE Racing Series heat and feature racing is on the card this week as Performance Concepts Big 8 Late Models, Anderson Automotive Hobby Stocks, Mountain Dew Sportsmen, Miller Time Hornets, and Dublin City Pub INEX Legend Cars will take to the track to battle for track and Hard Charger Series points.

The point race in Performance Concepts Late Models remains tight with Brian Gibson holding a ten-marker edge over Brad Osborn. A few competitors have raced elsewhere over the past couple weeks but are expected back this week.

Greg Hentrich has a scant 4 point edge over Jim Hanson in Mountain Dew Sportsmen. The field is expected to be joined by a couple new cars this week.
