(Cedar Rapids, IA  05/18/2016)—After last weeks’ inclement weather,  weekly racing returns to its traditional 7:30pm time slot this Friday night May 20th at Cedar Rapids’ historic Hawkeye Downs Speedway.

Corridor Motors presents week three of the 91st season of racing at Hawkeye Downs! A full program of HY-VEE Racing Series heat and feature racing is on the card as Performance Concepts Big 8 Late Models,  Mountain Dew Sportsmen, Hobby Stocks, Miller Time Hornets, and Dublin City Pub  INEX Legend Cars will take to the track.

Feature lineups will be inverted from the May 7th feature finish order in all divisions except Performance Concepts Late Models. With an expanded Late Model purse, courtesy of Corridor Motors, the Late Models will qualify and be divided into odd/even heats based on qualifying results. A dice roll will then be used to set the invert for the feature.

Starting next week, May 27, two-week feature point averages will be used in all divisions and will continue for the rest of the season until Season Championships.

The Dodge Street Tire Lil’ Racers Car Club is off this week but will return May 27th.

Hawkeye Downs would like to recognize a valuable partner of the racing program, Area Ambulance Service. May 15-21 is National EMT Week and weekly racing could not help without these professionals on site each Friday night.

Hawkeye Downs and Hy-Vee have again teamed up to offer a new and improved concessions menu this season along with the return of Pepsi Products for 2016. Your favorite adult beverages are available as well!

The Front Gate and Concessions open at 6:00pm .  Pre-Race Ceremonies will begin at 7:20pm with the first race at 7:30.

Hawkeye Downs values our fans and continues to hold the line on admission prices. Adult admission (ages 18-61)  is STILL just $10, Senior Citizens (62+) are $7, Students (Ages 11-17) are $7, and Children 10 and Under are absolutely FREE with a paid Adult!

The All Iowa Agricultural Association’s (Hawkeye Downs) Board of Directors was approached by representatives from Cedar Bayou several months ago regarding a potential partnership between the two organizations.  Cedar Bayou is a community enhancement concept, which the Association’s Board feels, is our duty as a leading community partner, to explore and discover any potential opportunities to help promote the quality of life in Cedar Rapids.  It has been made very clear that the Association will continue all ongoing operations unabated.  It was also made very clear that it is the desire of the Board to preserve the legacy of ‘The Downs’ to continue to provide facilities (Exhibition Hall, Bingo and racing) for the community to experience and enjoy.
