A 200-lap battle on the 1/4 mile where there are NO CAUTIONS. Only stopping if absolutely necessary. It doesn’t matter if the track is wet, or there are pieces laying on it–we will run! Who will come out on top for the second Enduro of the year?
For the 5th consecutive year, the Big 8 Series rolled into town, and put on a show the fans love, along with our Hornets, Legends, and two Hobby Stock features.
In the Schaeffer Oil Hornets, Drew Nickell captured his second win of the season over Lucas Foster. Foster was unable to catch Nickell while Blum and Vogel battled for the third position. Blum ended up winning the battle. Nickell holds the point lead by just 5 going into this week.
In the Bulltown Legends, Dave McCalla earned his first win of the season, staying just ahead of Kevin Korsmo to the finish line. While the field was no match for McCalla, several competitors including Austin Slabaugh are on the verge of a win. Korsmo leads Slabaugh by 7 points.
For the first Anderson Automotive Hobby Stock feature, Jim Hanson and Logan Clausen took to continue their war. However, Clausen could not keep up and left Hanson to win this battle. The lead of Hanson would be extended as he went on to win the second feature as well. Clausen made contact while coming through traffic, which cut a tire and derailed his night. Hanson has the point lead by 10 over Jasen Freeman.
Nick Egan captured his first ever Big 8 Series win at Hawkeye Downs, grabbing the lead after Brody Willett and Griffin McGrath made contact battling for the spot. Both drivers crashed hard into the turn four wall, but were okay. Matt Lundberg finished second, and Jerry Mueller third.
This week is 100.7 the FOX Free Night, so be sure to pick up your free tickets at a local Dupaco Credit Union. Action from the Sport Mods, Hornets, Sportsmen, Legends, and Hobby Stocks will be available.
For the 5th year in a row the Big 8 Series late models are back to put on a show for the fans. See more than 20 of the best late model drivers in the Midwest race for the series opener. History of the “Clash at the Downs”
In 2018, Jeremy Miller held off hometown drivers, Griffin McGrath and Brian Gibson, to capture the victory–which helped lead him to another Big 8 Series Championship.
In 2017, Hawkeye Downs natives Brody Willett and Caleb Adrian “clashed” while competing for a win in the race. It was Rosemount, Minnesota’s, Joe Neisius that brought home his first Series win.
In 2016, Michael Bilderback won over Griffin McGrath.
In 2015, Adrian earned his only Big 8 victory at his home track in the series debut at Hawkeye Downs.
