UPDATE: This event has been cancelled. There is no makeup day for this event.
For the third consecutive year, the Iron Giants of the Asphalt are back! Just because weekly racing is over doesn’t mean there isn’t action on the track–we will have September Semi Racing! While the semi trucks are big, they are FAST and don’t hold back. A must-see show! Check the bottom of the page for more information and tickets.
The Gun Show for September 11-13 has been cancelled. We were disappointed to hear today that after a second adjuster has been out to take a look at damage from the derecho, our North Expo Hall has been deemed structurally unsound due to roof damage.
Because of this, the Gun Show scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled. The event scheduled for October 9-11 is still planned. Hawkeye Downs would like to apologize for any inconvenience this causes.
We will not give up. We will keep fighting. We will get it fixed better than before and cannot wait to have you all back soon.
Trade Show Productions presents
Hawkeye Downs Gun Show
Friday, September 11th: 5 pm – 9 pm Saturday, September 12th: 9 am – 5 pm Sunday, September 13th: 9 am – 3 pm
After the derecho came through on August 10th, Hawkeye Downs was disappointed to see only one track stadium light remained, as well as damage to several buildings and structures. The lack of lights means our Friday night points series has been concluded, but that won’t stop the action on the track.
A drifters event, a stop from Crown Rally Midwest, and a road course enduro spiced up August, providing some much needed escape for the community after the storm. In September, that continues with several events including the Raceway Ride on September 13th, an event where patrons can drive their own vehicle around the track.
The final weekend of the month will play host to a special race on Saturday, September 26th featuring Legends, Hornets, Hobby Stocks, Sport Mods, and Sportsman on the ¼ mile track. This race will include special features including qualifying, and a choose cone for restarts. The following day will see a 200-lap Enduro on the track with an 80’s theme.
Despite the short season, our 2020 champions are: Patrick Flannagan (Sport Mods), Jim Hanson (Hobby Stocks), Aaron Moyer (Legends), Braxton Franks (Sportsman), and Troy Scott (Hornets). Hawkeye Downs would like to congratulate these drivers on their season, and thank every driver that participated in the 2020 season.
