Cedar Rapids, Iowa – This Friday, May 19, marks week three of the 2017 Hy-Vee Racing Series at Hawkeye Downs Speedway. The speedway, Eastern Iowa’s premiere racing venue, is now in its 92nd year of operation and an integral part of Hawkeye Downs, a leading quality entertainment venue.

The A.I.R.S. Vintage Cars will join the regular racing divisions for a full night of racing for the first of two appearances on the schedule this season. A.I.R.S. features vintage cars, mostly from the 60’s and 70’s, that will be familiar to race fans young and old.

The Dublin City Pub INEX Legends, Miller Time Hornets, Mountain Dew Sportsmen, Anderson Automotive Hobby Stocks and Performance Concepts Late Models will all be action as well as the point battles continue.

The competition on the track has been hot and heavy with only one repeat feature winner in the first two weeks of the season. Cory Houdek, who has won both features in Sportsmen leads the points in that division. Caleb Adrian holds down the top slot in Late Models, Jim Hanson leads Hobby Stocks, Sammy Smith sit atop the Legends, and Drew Nickell has the edge in Hornets.

The Lil’ Racer Car Club features “Kids Riding in Race Cars” and a coloring contest this week along with selling raffle tickets for a signed Green Bay Packers football.
