RECAP: Gase Wins, Franks and Moyer Defeated

On a special night of racing with the “Be A Hero 30” with NASCAR driver, Joey Gase, and the AIRS Vintage Series, the action was plentiful on the track.

In the Sportsman Series, it looked like it might be “another one that got away” for Brandon Herb when the caution came out late and Braxton Franks was on his tail. However, Herb was able to hold off the rest while Franks and Logan Clausen battled. It was the first win for Herb.

For the second time this season, Elliott Vogel won the Hornet Series. Lucas Foster led early on until having a mechanical failure that brought out the caution. This led to an intense battle between Vogel and Troy Scott, with Vogel coming out ahead.

In the Legends Series, Aaron Moyer was finally defeated for the first time this year in the form of Tim Brockhouse. Despite starting on the front row, Moyer was unable to hold Brockhouse off and finished 2nd.

The AIRS Vintage Series returned for the second time this season, and it was Johnny Spaw who started from the back to get the victory. He bested Todd Ness, who won the first series race of the season.

Even though Jason Sherman remains on his tail, Jim Hanson earned his 4th win of the season in the Hobby Stock Series. The fans look to see if he can be beat in the coming weeks.

The “Be A Hero 30” Sport Mod race was a $1200-to-win race, and the 2nd annual for the event. The event opened with a wreck on the first lap, leaving Jonny Williams with a damaged car and out of the race. From there, Joey Gase worked his way to the front of the field to capture the win.

Special thanks to: Iowa Donor Network, Page Construction, Mitchell Racing, and AIRS Vintage Series for the added payout. And to Joey Gase for making this event happen.

This Friday, July 31st the Mid-American Stock Car Series and Midwest Dash Series have their makeup date on the 1/2 mile track, while Hobby Stocks, Sport Mods, and Legends compete on the 1/4 mile.
