(CEDAR RAPIDS, IA)—This Friday night marks week eight of the HyVee Racing Series at Historic Hawkeye Downs Speedway -Iowa’s only full time paved racetrack.

Hawkeye Downs Speedway is pleased to welcome The Iowa Network for their special night. Iowa Donor Network (IDN) is a non-profit organization that operates as a primary contact for organ, tissue and eye donation services for the state of Iowa. IDN also serves as the tissue recovery agency for the state and is accredited by the American Association of Tissue Banks. For more information on IDN visit their website at

In addition to using the night to raise awareness for their cause, IDN will also be welcoming friends and volunteers to celebrate with them as well as honoring some specific individuals during the night.

Hawkeye Downs veteran and Cedar Rapids’ native Joey Gase will also be on hand Friday night to race in the Carpetland USA Late Models presented by Performance Concepts Feature and will also sign autographs during Intermission at  the Iowa Donor Network signup station near the front gate. Gase currently drives in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for Jimmy Means Racing and also has a couple NASCAR Sprint Cup starts under his belt for GO FAS Racing. Joey partners with various organ donation organizations across the country and carries their message on his car where ever he races.

Also in honor of Iowa Donor Network Night, a group of sponsors and individuals have made donations to increase the purse for certain finishing positions in each division. Some are done in honor of family and friends who themselves have been organ donors.

The Hawkeye Downs Lil’ Racer Car Club is in action Friday night as well. Parents can sign their kids up for the Lil’ Racer Car Club at their clubhouse under the main Grandstand as well as sign up the kids for a chance to win prizes.  During intermission, to celebrate Li’Racer Car Club founder Mitch Swinon’s Birthday, kids will be invited to the track to get a group picture with Mitch!  C’mon down and wish Mitch a Happy Birthday!

All five divisions of the HyVee Racing Series return to the track Friday night to wage battle on the quarter and half-mile ovals at Hawkeye Downs.     

            Hawkeye Downs and Hy-Vee have again teamed up to offer a new and improved concessions menu this season along with the return of Pepsi Products for 2015. Don’t forget Happy Hour at the Downs featuring 2-for-1 Tallboys from 6-7pm.

The Front Gate and Concessions open at 6pm. Pre-Race Ceremonies will begin at 7:25pm with the first race at 7:30pm.

Hawkeye Downs continues to hold the line on admission prices Adult admission is STILL just $10, Senior Citizens (62+) are $7, Students over 12 are just $5, and Children 12 and Under are absolutely FREE!
