Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Hawkeye Downs Speedway drivers and race teams are eager to get back to racing after weather pulled the plug on last Friday’s program.

This Friday, May 26, marks week four of the 2017 Hy-Vee Racing Series at Hawkeye Downs Speedway. The speedway, Eastern Iowa’s premiere racing venue, is now in its 92nd year of operation and an integral part of Hawkeye Downs, a leading quality entertainment venue.

This week, Hawkeye Downs Speedway is proud to honor area Public Service agencies with “Public Service Appreciation Night.”  Vehicles and representatives from various local public service agencies will be hand all evening as we honor the sacrifices these men and women make daily to protect and serve the area.

The Dublin City Pub INEX Legends, Miller Time Hornets, Mountain Dew Sportsmen, Anderson Automotive Hobby Stocks and Performance Concepts Late Models will all be action as well as the point battles continue.

The competition on the track remains hot and heavy with only one repeat feature winner in the first couple weeks of the season. Cory Houdek, who has won both features in Sportsmen leads the points in that division. Caleb Adrian holds down the top slot in Late Models, Jim Hanson leads Hobby Stocks, Sammy Smith sit atop the Legends, and Drew Nickell has the edge in Hornets.

The Lil’ Racer Car Club is on hand again this with a coloring contest and School Bus Rides for the kids. Kids can pick up pictures to color in the clubhouse under the main grandstand.

The pits open at 4:00 PM, gates at 6:00 PM and racing begins at 7:30 PM.
