Cedar Rapids Festival of Trees Returns to Hawkeye Downs in 2022
After a two-year hiatus, The Gazette is bringing back one of Cedar Rapids’ favorite holiday traditions: The Festival of Trees.
On Saturday, November 19th and Sunday, November 20th, Hawkeye Downs is excited to see the Expo Hall filled with local musicians, vendors, and dozens of beautifully decorated trees. The annual holiday event is expected to bring in over 10,000 attendees from across Eastern Iowa.
At the festival, the trees will be auctioned via silent auction. The funds raised will benefit two organizations, the Linn County chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness and United We March Forward, which serves immigrant and refugee families. Additionally, admission will be discounted for children who donate a non-perishable food item. All food items will be donated to United We March Forward.
Attendees are encouraged to vote for their favorite decorated trees during the event. People’s Choice Awards will be given to the top three trees. All trees are sponsored and decorated by local community businesses and organizations.
In addition to the tree displays, there is a schedule of live entertainment and the Holiday Market features 35 vendor booths of all different varieties. From food to books, arts & crafts, and so much more, you'll certainly see something that gets you in the holiday spirit.
The festival will run from 10am to 5pm both days. Admission is just $5 for adults 18+. Admission for attendees 17 and under is free admission with a donation of a non-perishable food item.
