Joey Gase Returns to Hawkeye Downs for a Special Thursday Night Race
On Thursday, June 13th, Hawkeye Downs Speedway is ecstatic to host NASCAR racer and Cedar Rapids native Joey Gase for our NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Racing!
During the intermission, our Hawkeye Downs staff invites you to catch Joey Gase for autographs and photos with his NASCAR XFINITY Series car. Plus, Joey will get behind the wheel of the Gibson #20 Sportsman and compete in the evening's races.
Our June 13th racing lineup will include the Sunline Hornets, Anderson Automotive Hobby Stocks, Legends.Direct Legends, Cassill Motors Sport Mods, All Seasons Automotive Sportsmans, and Performance Concepts Late Models. Pits open at 4:30pm with gates open to the public at 6:00pm. Fans will witness hot laps at 6:40pm with opening ceremonies beginning at 7:00pm. Tickets are $12 and are available at the gate. Thursday Night Racing on June 13th
In case you haven’t heard, the NASCAR Cup Series is coming to Iowa Speedway. The inaugural event is scheduled for June 14-16, 2024 in Newton, Iowa. It will include the NASCAR XFINITY Series race and the ARCA Menards Series racing. Due to this exciting weekend of racing in Iowa, Hawkeye Downs Speedway has scheduled its NASCAR Weekly Racing Series race for THURSDAY, June 13th. About Joey Gase
Joey Gase is a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and a current racer in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. He began his racing career at the age of 8 with an interest to follow in his father’s footsteps. His first race led to his first win in the Jr 1 Go Karts at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in 2001. His racing experience extends from modifieds at age 14 to late models at age 15 to his start in the NASCAR XFINITY Series in 2011. Gase made his first Daytona 500 start in 2017. He made his best finish in the NASCAR Cup Series of 17th at Talladega Speedway and tied his best finish in 23 at the Daytona 500, both in 2020. In 2023, Gase achieved his racing team’s first top-ten finish of 9th place at Talladega Speedway.
Outside of racing, Gase is dedicated to his family, including his twin boys, Carson and Jace, and his wife, Caitlin. He promotes organ, eye, and tissue donation awareness and honors donors and their families. His dedication to this cause comes from the loss of his mother in 2011. She left an incredible impact on this Earth, as her organ, eye, and tissue donation led to saving and improving the lives of 66 people.
